Fr. Casey gives the homily for the opening Mass of the retreat on Spiritual Combat in Our Time. He preaches on the importance of the Eucharist for the spiritual life and how Jesus emphasized this even though the disciples walked away from him. Father relates this to the ten plagues mentioned in the first reading and how the Israelites avoided the tenth plague with the lamb which they had to eat. This foreshadows the Eucharist with the mass a fulfillment of the Passover sacrifice.
