In 1960, before the release of Psycho, Director Alfred Hitchcock wanted to keep his movie's shocking twist ending from getting out. To do this he banned his actors from talking to the press. Theatre managers were also instructed to not let anyone in after the start of each picture performance. All of this created a mystery around the movie and made it the highest grossing of Hitchcock's career.
