I used to be afraid of painting botanicals 🌱😱

Whenever I would see a beautiful composition that included trees or bushes, I would avoid it because I hadn’t honed the skills for painting curvilinear lines or negative space. When I finally couldn’t stand to have such a restriction on what I painted, I decided to dive deep into botanicals by painting greenhouse scenes.

And thus, my greenhouse series was born and it’s still one of my favorite bodies of work. 🌵🌱 There was still enough structure in these compositions they they felt similar to my architectural works, but they helped embrace botanicals in a way I never would have otherwise 💪
