Brothers in Arms guitar solo, if it were written by David Gilmour
After the last video I thought of doing the same thing in the style of another guitarist and a few hours later someone suggested it in the comments aswell, so I figured I would give it a try.
I went with a sort of recreation of David's Comfortably Numb sound. It was a fun challenge to find the right characteristics. I didn't want to overplay, especially in the higher register Gilmour really takes the time to make the notes sing. Also the track takes a while to pick up in terms of dynamics. The combination of vibrato and using the whammy bar has always fascinated me and I consider it essential to getting the sound right. When you hold the whammy bar and pick the string at the same time, you pick the string closer to the neck of the guitar, which also changes the sound. Then there's the unison bends, one and a half step bends and pinch harmonics. All these tiny little elements that make for a cool solo!
Hope you enjoy!
