About the Original Song

Shchedryk is a traditional Ukrainian folk song originally sung as a New Year’s chant. It tells of a swallow bringing good news and prosperity to a household, symbolizing wealth, livestock, and good fortune.

The melody later became widely known as “Carol of the Bells” with different lyrics in the English-speaking world. While often associated with Christmas today, its roots lie in older seasonal folk traditions.

This version is a techno / metalcore / metal hybrid reinterpretation.
The symbolism remains, but the ritual is translated into distortion, bass, and controlled chaos.
