This trip, in the Tatoosh Range of Mt Rainier National Park, turned out to be one for the books. After scrowing the snow reports around Seattle and Washington in general we decided Mt Rainier would be our best option for snowboarding. So we packed up our splitboard gear and started the trip. For the entire drive we could see Mt Rainier and blue skies.
Our initial Plan was to head to camp Muir but we got to talking about how bad we've wanted to go to the Tatoosh Range. I had some screen shots of routes saved in my phone so we decided that's where we would go splitboarding.
The views were gorgeous the entire way. We headed towards The Castle which is a huge rock formation that guides the journey. Mt Rainier is over your shoulder the entire way. At the top of our first run we could see Mt Adams and Mt St Helens as well.
The splitboard up was hard at times with dust on crust in spots. Surprisingly our runs were pretty good and we found a little bit of fresh snow. It was probably one of the better areas on the west side of Washington right now. After lunch we rode back towards the lake with Mt Rainier in full view. It was easy to notice all the tracks coming from camp Muir. For never being out there we had a great time and can't wait to go back. SUBSCRIBE to catch the next one.
