In Part 2 of our behind-the-scenes documentary, we step into one of the most intense and data-driven areas of the Johnson Controls Advanced Development and Engineering Center — the compressor test blocks, also known as the gas blocks.
This is where YORK compressors are pushed, mapped, and reimagined.
With compressors running at up to 3,000 horsepower, these test stations simulate real-world refrigerant flow, pressure, and speed to generate massive amounts of performance data. These insights feed directly into how YORK designs, improves, and future-proofs their centrifugal and screw compressors for commercial HVAC systems.
