After years of reparations and setbacks, steam locomotive No. 411 of class 26c is finally back in steam!
Built in 1922 by Hamar and Thune workshops, this powerful four-cylinder compound locomotive served faithfully on Norwegian rails until its retirement in 1970.
For decades it stood silent, a sleeping giant of iron and steam—though it briefly returned to service between 1982 and 1989, hauling heritage trains across the national network and delighting new generations of enthusiasts.
Now, after painstaking restoration and countless hours of work, No. 411 makes its long-awaited test run from Hønefoss to Hen. From there, it continues its journey to Vikersund before being transferred to its new home on the Krøderbanen heritage railway.
Join the dedicated crew as they stoke the firebox, make final adjustments, and bring the locomotive to life once more.
Experience the drama of the first chuff of steam, the hiss of valves, and the rhythmic thunder of wheels as No. 411 rolls again through the stunning Norwegian landscape—a living reminder of a bygone age of railway glory.
