Situated to the west of Rissani in southern Morocco, Gara Medour is said by some to have been a holding area for slaves sold to Portuguese traders. This spectacular location has been used in several films, notably The Mummy, Spectre and Waiting for the Barbarians. It looks like a volcano but is actually an eroded limestone cirque.
