In an exclusive interview with Mint, Sanjeev Sanyal, member of the PM's Economic Advisory Council says that India needs to abandon population control right now, because we face a decline in fertility that mirrors the demographic crisis unfolding across China and other East Asian economies.
Saying that we're at a position where schools need to be shut down, Sanyal says that decline in India's fertility is no longer limited just to Southern states, and India is in fact 15 years past our peak, in terms of the number of babies in this country.
