This is a clip from my interview with Dr. Dale Allison Jr., an esteemed New Testament scholar, about the historical Christ. In this excerpt, we discuss Jesus' relationship to the Jewish Scriptures. Naturally, he—being himself a Jew—constantly referenced and reaffirmed the Torah. But he also seems to have reversed the motivations for some things in the Torah. Moreover, he both intensified some commands (eg. about adultery) and relaxed some regulations (eg. cleanliness). So what precisely was his view of the Hebrew Bible? That's what we talk about in this video.
