"Among the Prince's happiest memories of his tour will surely be the reception given him by the children at Kingsmead, Durban." The Prince of Wales (later King Edward VIII / Duke of Windsor) and entourage walking under floral type archway being held up by children. M/S of little girls running up to the Prince, they start to throw flowers on the floor in front of him and start walking backwards. Shots of walking past children who wave and cheer at him. High angle shot of children waving in arena. M/S of the Prince (now wearing naval uniform) in Congella to open dock. M/S of the Prince pressing large button to open the dock. Shots of South African ship entering dock it breaks ribbon as it enters.



"Next day the Prince left Durban for Zululand, where great preparations were afoot." L/S of Zulu standing under archway. On the arch is written the word 'Bayede !'. "For many days past, parties of this nation of warriors had been assembling at Eshowe to see the great 'Lord of the Blood'". L/Ss of thousands of Zulu warriors making their way across field. M/S of women walking in line carrying large containers on their heads. Shots of Zulus rubbing oil into their skin. C/U of elderly warrior wearing overcoat and floppy hat. M/Ss of woman putting the finishing touches to women's hair (the hair style looks a bit like a fez !). The hairdresser also attends to other girls hair. M/S of a woman wrapping a kind of string around her wrist.



"Fifty thousand Zulus had assembled round the great arena where the Prince was to see the war dances performed." L/Ss of thousand of Zulus lined up. "It was chiefly the efforts of Solomon the descendent of the old Zulu Kings, that had made this great gathering possible." Good M/S of Solomon. Shots of the Zulus standing in line. Several shots of the warriors dancing. The Prince watches with other dignitaries. Shots of the Prince inspecting the warriors after the dancing. He chats with some of them. "Our photographer was lucky enough to catch this Very brief but amusing incident." M/S of the Prince (briefly) attempting to mimic the dance of the warriors. M/Ss of Zulus walking in line heading for home.
