HURRY, Before It Closes?! We Swam in America’s Deepest Lake | Van Life at Crater Lake

We visited Crater Lake National Park and swam in America’s deepest — and bluest — lake… just before it closes! In this van life adventure, we explore the jaw-dropping beauty of Crater Lake, hike the Cleetwood Cove Trail to reach the freezing-cold shoreline, and take a once-in-a-lifetime dip before this iconic trail shuts down until 2029 for major renovations.

We teamed up with a fellow van life friend to experience the full Rim Drive scenic loop, tried (and failed) to hike Watchman Trail for a view of Wizard Island, and wrapped up our trip with peaceful forest vibes on Godfrey Glen Trail — a perfect hike for dogs.

Back at our campsite, we cooked up delicious tacos and knocked out a few van life chores in a DREAM overnight location on Diamond Lake. This experience is one we’ll never forget. If you're planning a trip to Crater Lake, don’t miss your chance before access disappears for years!
