Vegetable oil spray for greasing bottom of the pan
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 & 1/3 can pineapple slices (12 slices need it ) in juice, drained
12 maraschino cherries without stems, drained
1 box Duncan Hines Signature Pineapple Supreme Cake Mix OR( Yellow Cake Mix + 1 tsp Pineapple Extract and Substitute the water of cake mix with pineapple juice)
Water, Vegetable oil and eggs called for on cake mix box.
I used 13x9 inches rectangular pan.
preheat the oven on 350° of F. (or 176 degree of C)
Bake the cake for 36 to 38 minutes or until toothpick check come out clean.
Remove from oven and cool in pan on wire rack.
Inverse cake into serving platter, when is completely cool.
For the pineapple upside down cake to retain its shape and appearance, it must be completely cooled, otherwise the brown sugar will stick to the mold and will not release evenly from the mold.
