San Gil is a municipality located 97 kilometers from Bucaramanga, capital of the Department of Santander, since 2004 is considered the tourist capital of the department.
It was a territory populated by the Guanes Indians during the pre-Hispanic Colombian era, is located on the road axis between Bucaramanga - Bogota, and is the most important urban and tourist center of southern Santander. It is an agricultural municipality, which complements its economic activity with extreme tourism, beekeeping, handicrafts carved in stone, wood and fique weaving among others. The gastronomy is varied and for all tastes.
