The Sanctuary is Changing! Rebuilding our Red Fox Exhibit

Things are moving and changing quickly here at SWC. It has been almost a month since our sweet Geoffroy's cat went missing. As animal rescuers, we must continue on his legacy and rescue more animals. In this video, we will take apart his old enclosure and rebuild it into one that will be suitable for our two red foxes. This was a hard process because we missed Jack but it was really sweet to see the foxes have so much space. If you are new to the channel, here is a little bit more about our two rescued red foxes.

Michael Jay (gray-colored red fox): MJ arrived at the sanctuary in August 2023. He was an extreme neglect case and was skinny, matted, and terrified. Since he was only fed fish his whole life, it took some time for us to rehab him and eat other food. He is now doing amazing. He will still get food anxious sometimes, but has gained weight and even does tricks. He is such a sweet and lovable animal. He has not only healed physically but mentally as well. I spent tons of hours just sitting with him and respecting his space. He is just thriving now and amazing at SWC.

Megan (marble red fox): Megan came to rescue in August of 2024. She was saved from the fur farm through SaveaFox and Mikayla Raines. Megan took some time to train due to her own issues of being locked in a small cage on a wire bottom. Due to those conditions, she did not develop her muscles as a kit and it took a little while to get used to real dirt. We put her in MJ and after a few months, her and MJ became friends and now playing, cuddle, and enjoy life together.
