"Queen Of Clubs" was the third KC & The Sunshine Band single that charted on the US R&B chart but did not the Hot100 until it was reissued in 1976. It entered the chart at #85 the same week that Andrea True Connection entered the chart at #98 with "More, More, More".
Where Andrea ended up with a #4 pop song, "Queen Of Clubs" peaked at #66 and dropped off the US chart the following week. The UK audience embraced the song and it peaked at #7 over there in 1974. The UK was more accepting of this new band and "Sound Your Funky Horn" became a #17 UK pop hit.
It was pretty advanced for 1974 and was more inherently disco than their previous two singles. Gwen McCrae does the uncredited female background vocals here, she can clearly be heard. A year later she got her own KC disco song. "Where Is The Love" a #2 disco hit and the classic "Rockin' Chair".
To my knowledge, there has never been an extended version of this club classic so I present to you and extra long version that will keep you jumpin!
