Learning to drive is your first steps to becoming independent. In this video, the ECHO DRIVING SCHOOL instructor guides, a novice student through the process of how to move off and stop. This can be summarised by the POM routine. Which is prepare, observe, Move. The steps are as follows:
Clutch down, select first gear find the biting point hold your left foot steady with your right foot hold the break. Take effective observation by looking left shoulder, left mirror, centre mirror, right mirror, right shoulders and if there is no cars coming, then give a right signal and take a final look and start releasing the break holding your left clutch pedal, steady and slowly steer to the right once you have cleared the car and object in front of you slightly steer to the left and straighten up your steering wheel until you are 1 metre or a door width away from the curb of a parked car.
