🎣 Introduction: Targeting larger striped bass keyed in on herring using the Hogy Protail Thumper Swimbait.

📍 Approach: Chasing birds and locating schools of fish with radar and binoculars, bouncing from pod to pod to find the right class of fish.

🛠 Gear: Using a Hogy Inshore Series 7’ Medium-Heavy Rod paired with a 4000 class Daiwa reel, 20 lb test braid, and a 15 lb test fluorocarbon leader for finicky fish. Our lure of choice is the Hogy Protail Thumper Swimbait, paired with a 1.5oz Hogy Barbarian Jig Head. We're switching between the white and blue herring colors because they effectively imitate the herring these stripers are feeding on.

⚙️ Technique: The "kerplunk method" involves casting the lure, letting it sink for 15 seconds, then slowly reeling to maintain sensitivity and detect strikes.

🌊 Environmental Factors: Keeping an eye on wind conditions helps us position the boat effectively, ensuring we drift towards the cast without spooking the fish.

📊 Situational Factors: Switching between different colors of the Hogy Protail Thumper Swimbait (white and blue herring) to match the observed baitfish in the area.
