I wanted to share a cool guitar lick I just came up with while jamming with my partner Jason. We were exploring the importance of feeling the rhythm and pocket in music, and this particular lick has a laid-back country feel to it. I'm playing in G using a 1-4-5 progression, incorporating some hammer-ons that take advantage of open strings.

The technique involves hammering on the second fret of the G string, then moving to open D and A strings - essentially repeating the same pattern across different strings. While it might seem simple, finding that perfect pocket can be tricky. I'll demonstrate how to use this lick in different progressions, moving from G to C to D, sometimes throwing in an F bass note for flavor. I also incorporate some right-hand muting techniques to add a percussive element.

This is actually one of my go-to morning warmup exercises - perfect for those early coffee sessions when your hands aren't quite ready for anything too demanding. It's also great for backstage practice, whether you're playing solo or jamming with another acoustic guitarist. Hope this helps inspire your playing and I'll see you down the road!
