The issue of illegal immigrant eviction along the Assam-Nagaland border was discussed in the 7th session of the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly. NPF MLA Achumbemo Kikon cited historical agreements from 1965, the 16-Point Agreement, and the 1972 interim arrangements, urging Assam to respect joint coordination in reserve forests.
Deputy CM Y Patton and CM Neiphiu Rio assured that status quo will be maintained, police outposts will be set up, and maps showing Naga villages inaccurately as part of Assam will be corrected. The matter is currently sub-judice in the Supreme Court.
