Westbound intermodal train 25N was enroute from Columbus, OH. to its destination in Chicago, Ill., where somewhere along the way one of the consists original two C44-9W's broke down, leaving the priority train down to one working unit. As it slowly worked it's way west, Elkhart terminal threw some help on the point in the form of one of only less than a dozen ex N&W hi hood SD40-2's. This made for an awesome opportunity not only to see the veteran unit out on the road, but on point of a stack train on Norfolk Southern's busiest line on the system. Taking full advantage of that, we were able to chase it from MP482 to MP507. Making things better, the ex N&W unit still had its RS5T-RF mounted on the cab. What a day.
