In “The First 69 Weeks and the Coming Messiah” (Daniel 9:20–27), Pastor David P. Craig explores the prophetic timeline revealed to Daniel, focusing on the first 69 of the 70 “weeks” (groups of seven years). These 483 years (69 × 7) begin with Artaxerxes’ decree to rebuild Jerusalem in 445 B.C. (Nehemiah 2) and culminate on April 6, 32 A.D.—the day Jesus entered Jerusalem as Messiah (Zechariah 9:9). Using a prophetic 360-day year, this equals 173,880 days. The prophecy distinguishes two princes: the Messiah and a future prince (likely the Antichrist). After the 69 weeks, Messiah is “cut off,” and Jerusalem is again destroyed.
