In this video, I briefly demonstrate the phenomena of fluorescence. Rhodamine B and fluorescein sodium salt are two different molecules that emit intense light under UV illumination. The process occurring in these molecules can be summarized as follows: An electron is excited to a singlet energy level by UV light. When the high-energy electron returns to the lower energy level, it releases the energy difference as light. This process is called fluorescence.
