BNP leader Tarique Rahman returns to Bangladesh after spending 17 years in exile ahead of elections

After spending 17 years in exile, Bangladesh Nationalist Party Acting Chairman, Tarique Rahman, retuned to Dhaka on December 25. Citing party sources, bdnews24 reported that Rahman, son of former Bangladesh PM Khaleda Zia, boarded a flight from London on December 24. The airport authorities imposed a 24-hour ban on visitors at Hazrat Shahjalal Int’l airport ahead of Rahman's return to Bangladesh. Rahman was given a reception organized by the party on the 300 Feet Road, also known as the 36 July Expressway, bdnews24 reported. Rahman is also scheduled to register himself as a voter on Dec 27, bdnews24 reported, citing official sources. Nomination forms have already been collected on behalf of Rahman for the upcoming parliamentary elections, bdnews24 reported.
