El Nino season is here ! Pe'ahi went XL on Maui with excellent conditions today. The swell peaked early in the morning right before sunrise. Light wind all day long with some really heavy shifting big waves from a more northerly direction. The session started out with a few tow in waves before a paddle in session started around 8am, a lot of big wave riders flew in for this swell creating a crowded lineup with around 40 people out at one point. There were so many wipeouts and a lot of carnage with a few huge clean up sets. Here are a few of the highlights from the epic carnage session. The water safety team did an amazing job keeping everyone safe in these hectic conditions. All the surfers were going hard, charging every set that they could. More swells are on the way ! Stay tuned for more surfing action all season long from Pe'ahi and other spots on Maui.
