MOST Music - Final video

The mission of MOST Music – started in 2019 in a consortium of 10 partner organisations, led by the Budapest-based Hangvető and co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme – was to boost the music market of the Balkans by connecting and supporting actors of the world music scene.

The goal of MOST was to channel the untapped potential of Southeast Europe into the larger European market and to foster mutually beneficial connections across parties. To do this, we decided to focus on the markets in a larger region including Serbia, Bulgaria, Romania, Montenegro, Kosovo*, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Croatia, Albania and North Macedonia. The four-year-long project focused on four pillars of activity: Balkan Music Export for artists, Management Training for beginner or aspiring world music professionals, Festival & Club Exchange for events and venues, and finally the Urban Project Hub incubator for urban music projects.

MOST built a bridge connecting the Balkans and the global music market, a bridge made up of personal connections, experience and exchange. The four pillars of MOST involved 500+ musicians, managers, bookers, representatives of clubs and festivals, included 80+ showcase concerts, assisted the birth of 40+ videos, 12 urban projects and trained 79 managers, captivated an audience of 7500 at a single event, the closing feat of the project BALKAN:MOST.

And while the numbers may look impressive, the personal impact is what many have highlighted as the project’s most lasting achievement; a community centred around Balkan music, but spanning the whole of Europe.
