HOW DO YOU SCORE GOOD MARKS IN UNIVERSITY EXAMINATIONS?

Tips:

Make sure you write answers which are elaborate, rather than precise or to the point.
Your answers may themselves be correct, but teachers look at a 5-mark question and think "giving 5 marks for this 1-2 line answer isn't fair".
So general rule of thumb to follow in such cases look at the marks. If it is 1-2 marks write whatever is asked literally, in around 3-4 lines.
If it is 4-5 marks write was is asked, also write examples/ comparisons with other similar things, etc; fill around 7-8 lines.
If it is a 10-mark question usually you need to fill up at least 1/2 to 3/4 of the page.

Diagrams - Make sure you know diagrams. Draw them as and when you can for any question that is 4-5 marks or more.
Drawing diagrams is important. An examiner checks lots of papers a day, So it's a lot easier for them to be lenient with marks if they notice a correct and pertinent diagram that is easy to evaluate. make sure it's pertinent though. Drawing any nonsense isn't likely to get marks.

Write in points form rather than paragraphs because it is much easier to follow the logical sequence that way.
If there is an occasion where you cannot format your answer in a structured way like points or blocks, you need to underline the KEYWORDS so that examiner's attention is easily directed towards them, and they can correct it more easily and hence more leniently.

Be Legible. Even if you don't have great handwriting anybody can write legibly. Use Space/Leave lines liberally. Try to write in bigger handwriting since it's easier to read, and also fills up more space.
Even I don't like the way the system works where it's more the breadth and style of writing get marks, rather than the depth of understanding of the subject matter. But since we are in this system we have to think of ways to use it to our advantage.
