In this video, let's take a look at the HP 10Gb Ethernet Flex IO module (Marvell AQtion AQC113C) and test how well it works with OpenWrt.
The module comes in HP’s proprietary Flex IO form factor and connects via PCIe. In order to get it work with OpenWrt, we need the kmod-atlantic kernel module.
For testing, I used an HP EliteDesk 805 G8 with an AMD Ryzen 5 5600G, 64GB of RAM, and OpenWrt installed on a USB drive. Besides the Flex IO module, I also configured additional network interfaces using a USB 3.0 to 2.5GbE adapter (as the WAN port).
Although the card reported a 10Gbps link, the LAN to LAN throughput was around 5–6 Gbps, depending on the stream configuration. Perhaps there is something wrong with PCIe bandwidth or other factors, which I will investigate further in a follow-up video.
At the end, I also measured system power consumption during the test for additional insights.
