2 nights wild camping in very changeable weather conditions in the English Lake District. Using the very dependable Fjallraven Abisko Lite 1. My Border Collie Rose keeping me company as usual!
Unfortunately I came across an abandoned camp site by the shore of Easdale tarn during my decent on Sunday morning. Using bin-liners that I had used for extra weather protection for my clothes and sleeping gear, I removed the majority of the discarded gear/rubbish. It made the 1.7miles down into Grasmere very slow, tedious and exhausting.
Wild camping is 'tolerated' in the Lake District National Park provided the park's strict rules are followed and an absolute cornerstone of their rules is the ''Leave No Trace'' principal. It is essential that anyone wild camping follows this rule if we are to be able to continue to do this hobby we love in the Lake District.
