I am endlessly grateful for the air in my lungs, another day to live, my tribe, and the chance to dance, again. Imperfect. Broken, but, still here. This is an essay on my relationship with dance, all the ups and downs, and my journey being torn apart by it, only to attempt to fall back in love with it.

Falling in and out of love with it, again and again. It's a love/ hate relationship. I'm believing that when I release my memoir to the world, it will all make sense. Make it all make sense.

I've been broken and rebuilt by it so many times, again and again, I've lost count. But that is the journey. Imperfect, broken, and perpetual. I give more, and more, and more, and I've honestly never asked for anything in return.

Only for it to love me back.

In all it's abusive ways, it doesn't always do that. It doesn't always reciprocate. I just love it. I love teaching. I love creating. That's it. No hype. I've found my way back to it, again and again. I've let go of it and forced it out of my life, only for it not to let go of me. It pulls me, yearns for me as I yearn for it, and I decide between my two options, balancing on the edge of running back into its arms, or running away altogether.

This time was different. This time required a new approach. This time required relying on the grace of God to pull me through. And then it happened. With this song. With Luke. Lightning struck. Again. My heart burst open. The flame was still present, burning with a low ember, but orange with passion.

Rising from the ashes.

Again and again.

Finding my joy, my power.

Again.

Long live the lyrical reaches. Stay true to who you are and chase your JOY. Let the light inside you explode, for all the world to see. Let the underestimation of others towards you, burst your heart wide open. Transmute it all. Don’t let the pain keep you from falling in love again. In fact, fall harder, fall deeper, fall faster. Fall completely, and know that heartbreak can always be measured by the amount of love that was present.
