In Good Old Colony Times (1/317)

I was given a pretty magical old book this Christmas called "The Folk Songs of North America" by Alan Lomax. Inside are 317 folk songs collected by him and his father over the first half of the 20th century. They are transcribed by Peggy Seeger. Alan Lomax has written introductions for each song. I will be including some of his introductions for each song in the video descriptions and I will be recording every song in order over the next year or so. Some of the songs I know from the folk clubs and festivals of my youth and a lot of them are new to me. I am trying to be faithful to the transcriptions, however, it's important to me that the songs are listenable and not just old fashioned curiosities and to that end I will make changes to the harmonic progressions where I find the original distractedly square.
