Persian Sea (in Persian: دریای پارس) is the direct arm and extension of Indian Ocean in the south-eastern Iran. Persian Sea has been divided into 2 parts: the south-western part (Persian Gulf) and the south-eastern part (Makran waters). Persian Sea and Indian Ocean are twin brothers because their names share Indo-Iranian roots. The Persian Sea and the Indian Ocean also boast a rich and diverse array of marine life, including various fish species, sharks, rays, cetaceans like dolphins and whales, and populations of dugongs. Makran, Chabahar in Iran is ideal for surfing, diving, swimming and a number of watersports. Surfing in Chabahar, Makran, Iran is gaining popularity due to its remote, rugged coastline with consistent waves, a burgeoning surf culture, and the unique opportunity to experience a new wave-riding scene. The main surf spots in Iran are located in the province of Sistan and Baluchistan (The Vast Makran) which is the only part of the country that has good exposure to the Indian Ocean. This region and the Makran coast offer endless opportunities to discover new waves in the bays and on the headlands of this desertic coastline.
