How to Turn Viking Wire Knitting Into Finished Jewelry

In today's video, I show you how to finish the ends of a piece of Viking style wire knitting. This will enable you to make a necklace or bracelet as your first VK project.

Over the course of the Wire Working 101 Series, we've made a length of Viking wire knitting and the findings you will need to complete a piece of jewelry. In today's episode, we put all the pieces together using some of the skills you've learned along the way.

Tools needed for today's episode:
round nose pliers
chain nose pliers
two pairs of square nose pliers
flush cutters
Pro-polish pads, steel wool or a jewelry polishing cloth
automotive sandpaper (800-1000 grit)
bead mat on a tray (to contain your work and protect your work surface)
container for wire cuttings (with a lid)

Materials needed:
a length of completed Viking wire knitting (for how to do this check out my 5 part video series on Viking wire knitting)
a clasp with two 20g jump rings attached (for how to make a clasp and jumps rings check my Wire Working 101 playlist)

a pair of wire cuffs (see video in my Wire Working 101 playlist) or a set of premade cones to match your copper wire knitting -    • How To Make End Caps For Finishing Wire Kn...  
2 beads that are slightly larger than the wire cuffs (I used 4 mm beads)
about 6 inches of 20g dead soft copper wire

If you wish to make a necklace but do not have a length of Viking wire knit long enough on its own, you can consider attaching pre-made copper chain or leather cord (1.5 - 2 mm in diameter) between the knitting and the clasps.
