Wild Beauty, Endless Views – Exploring the Pine Creek Rail Trail 🚴🌄 - Pennsylvania

Trail Length: 65 miles from Jersey Shore to Wellsboro, PA. We rode a 32 mile section from Ross Run to Ansonia.

Recommended Trailhead start:
There are multiple really nice trailheads, so it really depends on how much time you have and where you want to start. There are very nice trailheads at both terminus locations of Jersey Shore and Wellsboro. Darling Run is a very popular place to begin the trip as well as Tiadaghton. We started more southern at Ross Run and worked our way north. Ross Run had great parking, but it did not have any facilities, so in retrospect, I would suggest beginning at Darling Run and heading south.

Facilities:
There are facilities all along the trail and they are marked with distances to each one on plaques. We did not see power except by going into town, and cell reception was extremely spotty.

Bike Shop:
Pine Creek Outfitters
They fix and rent bicycles along with giving tours and shuttle services.
They are located at the northern point in Wellsboro.

Hours:
7 days a week from 8:30am-6:00pm

Trail Condition:
The trail is crushed limestone with a very slight incline from south to north. The trail itself is wide and in excellent condition.

Food:
The community along the Pine Creek Trail really embraces the trail, and there are numerous places right off the trail to pick up supplies including Wolfe’s in Slate Run and Cedar Run General Store in Cedar Run.

Best picnic spot:
We really loved our picnic at Darling Run (mile marker 8), but there were limited picnic tables and it is a very popular spot to park. We felt lucky to actually get a picnic spot at the time. Many of the other trailheads had picnic areas, and marked camping areas also had picnic tables that could be used.

Lodging:
There are multiple B&B’s along the trail that a quick google search can locate; however, we stayed at the Quality Inn in Mill Haven, PA because we were also riding the Knox & Kane Trail so this location was convenient for both. We also like the Choice Hotels because they typically have a free breakfast and fruit that we can take for the ride later in the day. When we ride the trail again, we would choose one of the B&B’s and then spend a few days exploring.

ebike regulations for trail:
Class 1 ebikes are allowed on this trail with the throttle not being allowed to be used on the class 2 ebikes.

Class 1: ebikes that are pedal-assist, with no throttle, and have a maximum speed of 20MPH
Class 2: ebikes that also have a maximum speed of 20 mph, but are throttle-assisted
