Elvis Presley! Michael Jackson! Aerosmith and Jimi Hendrix all made history this week. Plus we celebrate the birthdays of both Beyonce and Sasha Fierce!
September 2 1995: After nearly a decade of inducting musicians, the actual physical Rock and Roll Hall of Fame opens in Cleveland, OH. Among the performers at the opening ceremony are Bob Dylan, Aretha Franklin, The Allman Brothers, Johnny Cash, Lou Reed, Iggy Pop, Boz Scaggs and Bruce Springsteen to name a few.
September 3 1969: The 30th Elvis Presley movie, "The Trouble With Girls (And How To Get Into It)", is released.
September 4 1981, Born on this day, Beyonce. Also born on this day, Sasha Fierce. You don't have to remind us to 'Say My Name' when we sing you happy birthday Beyonce...just tell us which one!
September 5 1998, Aerosmith get their first US No.1 single with the Diane Warren written song 'I Don't Want To Miss A Thing' from the 1998 film Armageddon.
September 6 1970, Jimi Hendrix made his final live concert appearance when he performed at the Isle Of Fehmarn in Germany.
September 7 2001, Michael Jackson was reunited onstage with his brothers the Jacksons at his 30th Anniversary Celebration in New York City's Madison Square Garden. Michael was joined by among others, Whitney Houston, Gloria Estefan, Britney Spears, *NSYNC and Destiny's Child to celebrate the 30th anniversary of his solo singing career.
September 8 1897, Born on this day, the first country music star, Jimmie Rodgers. Jimmie sold over 12 million records and was the first person to be elected into the Country Music Hall Of Fame.
