MITCHELDEAN villagers turned out in force at a special fun day in memory of much-loved fundraiser Barbara Bullock who died of meningitis.
An amazing £3,150 was raised in aid of the Meningitis Trust and Cancer Research through a wide range of events including a Le Mans-style wheelbarrow race.
Drybrook RFC girl's section ran out winners in the gruelling obstacle race that included participants having to dodge water bombs thrown from the crowd.
Barbara's daughter Claire Griffin was in the team that came third.
She said: "It was lovely to see so many people there and to raise that much money was brilliant."
Organiser Craig Wintle said: "The support we received was fantastic and we have managed to raise aware- ness for meningitis in the Forest.
"Mitcheldean is a phenomenal village for getting behind events and raising money and I want to thank everyone who helped or donated."
As well as the wheelbarrow race there were also stalls, face painting, bouncy castles, and refreshments.
The day was brought to a close with a disco in the evening and a charity auction.
