ON SEPT. 28, 2023 in Braddock, Pennsylvania, the Pennsylvania Historical Museum Commission dedicated a historical marker to the 1941 novel "Out of This Furnace" by Thomas Bell.
Based in Braddock, the novel tells the story of America's immigrant industrial laborers in three generations of families who worked in the steel mills.
On Sept.28, historians, elected officials and Woodland Hills School District students and staff gathered for the marker dedication followed by speeches and discussions of the importance of Bell's novel and the study opf America's labor history.
