According to the Puranas, Kalabhairava is the fierce form of Shiva, known for controlling time and destroying sins. When Brahma and Vishnu argued about who was supreme, Brahma's arrogance grew, and he insulted Shiva.
Enraged, Shiva plucked a hair from his lock and threw it to the ground, birthing the terrifying Kalabhairava. To crush Brahma's ego, Kalabhairava severed his fifth head. But this act carried a heavy price: The "Brahmahatya Dosha" (Sin of killing a Brahmin).
