Elizabeth's struggles with mental health began early in her teens with depression and suicidal ideation. Substance use followed.
"I was wanting to take away what I was feeling," Elizabeth says.
As time went on, she reached a point when she realized that she needed to make a change.
"It felt like I threw a bomb in the middle of everything," she says. "I was the bomb, and it exploded."
Eventually, Elizabeth sought treatment at the Herrington Center for Addiction Recovery at Rogers.
"It made me feel like there was a way out, if I wanted it," she says. "It planted a seed of possibility that I had a future without drugs and alcohol."
