Detailed Description ►
We last saw Joe and Lauren Romeiro and the warfish team testing out the sofar ocean trident when a shark attacked the underwater drone. Before that, they were swimming with sharks, specifically blue & mako sharks, to document and observe shark behavior when a giant mako unexpectedly showed up. In this episode, they are testing a new ROV, the chasing M2, that is more advanced and will be able to get them farther, deeper, and closer to more wildlife.
The Chasing M2 opens up a world of possibilities for ROVs. It has 8-thrusters for omnidirectional movement, 4K UHD Video + EIS Image Stabilization, 2000 Lumens Lights x2, E-reel for easy tether management, etc. Swimming with sharks comes in all different forms. ROVs are tools that we use to swim with sharks and learn about their behavior. They allow us to get up close to the animals without disturbing them. All the underwater footage in this video is either from the Chasing M2 drone itself or from the GoPro sitting on top of the ROV.
What is an underwater drone? Underwater drones, also known as remotely operated vehicles or ROVs, are remote-controlled submarines that allow you to film underwater. ROVs allow users to remotely investigate marine areas that we cannot normally reach for extended periods of time. What is the purpose of an underwater ROV? Sometimes diving is either impracticable or dangerous, such as when operating in deep water or researching submerged hazards, ROVs are frequently used. Video cameras, lights, and robotic arms to grab items are all carried by ROVs and AUVs. These underwater robots assist us in safely studying the ocean by going where humans cannot.
Are sharks known to attack underwater drones? Sharks investigate their surroundings by touching objects with their mouth. Marine predators can sense and see what the objects are made of by touching them. They are also attracted to the movement and sound created by these vehicles. Sharks are the most well-known predators in the ocean. Observing them hunt is fascinating. For any daring diver, seeing them in the water is one of the most exhilarating dives. Keep in mind that you're looking at a creature that hasn't been touched by evolution in millions of years, owing to its superior hunting abilities.
