Central Indiana Public Safety Dive School Class 23 - Vehicle Rigging and Recovery

Today, 17 divers from the Central Indiana Public Safety Dive School participated in specialized training on vehicle rigging and recovery in coordination with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources at Eagle Creek Reservoir. The advanced dive training focused on techniques for safely securing and retrieving submerged vehicles, a critical skill in public safety diving operations.

Divers in Class 23, each represent their department's commitment to engage in specialized rescue and ensure their teams are ready to respond. Today's exercise emphasized a real-world scenario, that requires divers to utilize teamwork, technical rigging methods, and recovery operations in a controlled environment.

DNR Officers/Divers led todays training which included an intensive morning classroom session and topside training on hooking a car before going subsurface. Public Safety Diving in Indiana offers a pitch black environment in waters often filled with dangerous debris. Seconds count and divers must rely on their senses to be successful under water. We can't thank them enough for their partnership, expertise and the added layer of safety provided for our divers in the water.

We'd also like to thank the team form Hanna's Wrecker Service who provided the wrecker and cars to make today's training possible. The Hanna's team provided our divers with some uber important insight into their operation, resources and capabilities regarding vehicle recovery from bodies of water.

The 8 week Public Safety Dive School is now in its final phase and will conclude next Friday. With one week remaining, participants are in the homestretch of an intensive program designed to prepare them for the demands of public safety diving in Central Indiana. Dive School Graduation is slated for September 5th.
