Arua Voting Delayed after Registrar Arrested for Issuing Declaration Forms Before Voting.

Voting in Arua district was delayed beyond 2pm after the district registrar Julius Abele was arrested.
The arrest of Abele comes after he was found in the company of the National Resistance Movement NRM chairperson Boniface Alioni transporting and distributing election materials.
According to POLICE report, Abele and the chairperson distributed Declaration Forms before the voting.
This brought in a lot of suspicion in the electoral process which led to security stopping voting in the district. The district security committee recalled all electoral materials to the NRM office on Odia Nyadri, and arrested Abele who was forced to hand over office to the Deputy to allow a voting resume.
This delayed voting processes. By 3pms voting has not started in Arua district with four sub counties of Vurra, Ajia, Arivu and Logiri.
Alioni who is the NRM chairman arua also doubles as a candidate contesting for the position of DLC5 Logiri Sub county bringing in suspicion and unfair play in the process.
Collins Asea, the Police Spokesperson for West Nile Region confirmed the arrest. Abele was arrested at around 9am. The registrar is under police custody in Arua Police Station.
Meanwhile in Arua City Central Division, voting was marred with Low Voter Turn Up, Non-Registered Voters. In Ewavio cell in Mvara ward in Arua central division has a total of 637 registered voters on the register but less than 200 turned up to vote.
