India Trade | Deficit narrows 25.7% | Exports rise, imports fall

India’s trade deficit shrank to $26.49 billion in August 2025 — a sharp 25.7% drop from last year. Exports rose 6.7% to $35.1 billion, led by electronic goods, gems & jewellery, and pharmaceuticals, while imports fell 10.1% to $61.6 billion, with gold and transport equipment plunging. Services exports also climbed, offsetting nearly two-thirds of the trade gap. Policy reforms, incentives, and diversification are shaping India’s trade momentum.
