I Stayed in Sikkim’s Only Homestay Near Khecheopalri Lake | Hidden Village In Sikkim

In this vlog, I take you far beyond the tourist trail — into one of the most peaceful and untouched corners of Sikkim.

After exploring the sacred Khecheopalri Lake, I didn’t leave like most travelers do.
Instead, I hiked up a quiet trail and found a small village where only 25 families live.
There are no hotels here…
Only one place to stay — Sonam Homestay — and it felt more like home than anywhere I’ve been on this trip.

🏡 I pitched my tent next to the homestay and became part of the family.
From organic food grown in the garden to snow-covered mountains just outside the room, every moment was peaceful and grounded.

🪙 Inside, I discovered something magical —
A photo board filled with guests who be family,
and a rare coin collection from all over the world.
Every traveler leaves behind a memory… and becomes part of the story.

Later, Baichung’s uncle took me to a monastery run entirely by female monks —
No crowds. No noise. Just silence, prayer, and mountain air.

🥾 I also went on a muddy hike through the forest where I had to fight off leeches (yes, it got wild 😅)
But the views… absolutely worth it.

🪵 I helped the locals collect firewood in the jungle, and in doing so, I understood how everything here is done with care, meaning, and respect for nature.

🌱 What touched me most?
Sikkim is India’s first 100% organic state, and nothing here goes to waste.
Every meal I had was fresh from the garden, cooked with love, and shared with warmth.
