In this month’s From the Bench, I’m sharing a closer look at the pieces I’ve built for the 26th annual Traditional Cowboy Arts Association (TCAA) show in Oklahoma City—hosted at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum.
Each piece carries a story:
– The Texas Cattle Drive Spurs, featuring a sculpted steer skull and family brands tied to my great-great-grandfather.
– A Santa Barbara bit—a traditional silhouette with contemporary ornamentation that reflects where I’ve come from and where I’m headed.
– Another bit tied to Texas tradition, featuring the Deadman’s Hand on the concho—built with meaning in the details.
– A set of longhorn-handle barbecue skewers, made for working and sharing a meal.
– A pair of engraved keepers headed to Cary Schwarz for one of his cases.
– A bit from last year’s TCAA show, brought back to the bench and finished the way I’d always envisioned.
– And finally, a glimpse at a pair of spurs built for a special friend—still a surprise.
Appreciate y’all following along. Let me know what you think or what you’d like to see next.
