Three Filipino fishermen were injured after Chinese coast guard vessels used water cannons and aggressive manoeuvres against fishing boats in a disputed South China Sea area the Philippine Coast Guard said. Manila accused Chinese crews of cutting anchor lines and causing serious damage. Beijing said it took necessary control measures near Sabina Shoal.
The incident follows earlier confrontations involving ramming and water cannon use. Separately China said it expelled a Philippine aircraft near Scarborough Shoal. Tensions persist as rival claims overlap regional waters and military activity increases across the Indo Pacific.
