The beach is full of make-shift hammers, so you don’t have to bring one with you! This video focusses on how to spot fossils in chalk, and how to chisel them out! The echinoids found down on the Peacehaven foreshore are around 80 million years old - their calcite shells can be filled with chalk or flint depending on the type of rock they’ve popped out of. They come in all kinds of shapes and sizes, and no two are the same - which is why we absolutely love them!
