Our 7th lesson! I'm happy to have kept this one shorter and more concise - only 4 minutes? For me talking? I know, crazy.
As many of you probably know, lately I've been mildly obsessed with the vibraphone player Joe Locke. I'm in the process of transcribing a solo of his, and there is a particularly good lick he plays over an F7#11 chord. Coincidentally, it uses the lydian dominant scale.
One thing I didn't mention is the use of 3rds in this pattern. He's just not just playing up and down the scale, but using chordal shapes. That's a huge part of why it sounds so interesting.
