This lower ability Year 6 Maths group looks at composite rectilinear shapes and calculating their area having previously looked at rectangles and other polygons. There are two main activities, one where it is clear that the shapes are divided, and another where they are fused. Pupils are asked to separate the composite shapes and calculate lengths using known facts.
